Mississippi Spring Snow Goose Hunts
The spring snow goose conservation season starts Feb. 1st. We start our spring snow goose season in Arkansas and Mississippi. Millions of snow geese funnel through Arkansas and Mississippi as they make their migration north. These birds winter from northern Arkansas down to Louisiana delta and the coast down to Texas. Rice fields are the main crop and the main reason these birds love Mississippi, there are also many winter wheat fields as well. Our Mississippi hunts are run at a private Lodge that is on site of 1000's of acres we hunt.
Typical Day in the Field
In the morning your guide will shuttle you from the Lodge out to the field in a UTV. Once in the field, after your guide does a few spread adjustments and turns on electronic callers, your hunt will start. The average day in the field is 10-30 birds. 50-100+ bird days happen as well but are less common. 0-10 bird days can still happen as well as it is still HUNTING. Weather is a HUGE factor in the success of a snow goose hunt.
The Lodge
All our Mississippi hunts are run on 1,000 acres of the private lodge to make things easy and enjoyable. Facilities include - full kitchen, dining room, pool table, heated garage, no food provided but you will have access to cooking your own food.
Mississippi vs. Arkansas Snow Goose Hunting
Although both states have great hunting, the beauty of Mississippi snow goose hunting is the lack of pressure--with the same migration pattern and the same quality crop fields. Between visitors and locals, Arkansas gets a lot of snow goose hunting pressure every year. The more decoy spreads the geese see, the more pressured they become and the less likely they are to commit to a decoy spread in the future. However, with far less hunting and decoy activity in Mississippi, the birds can't resist coming into our decoy spreads. Both states offer incredible hunting experiences, but if you want to hunt less pressured birds, Mississippi is the place to go.
